Ever since a school trip to the Tate Gallery of Modern Art and the impressive viewing of 'The weather project', I have been thrilled by Olafur Eliasson’s works and actively following his projects, in particular his Research Map. When I saw this job offer, I got excited how how fitting the demands and topics are for me. As my two subjects at the University of Bonn, Anthropology of the Americas, Ethnology and Comparative Literature have a strong emphasis on postcolonial and decolonial theories, I intensively engaged with texts of non-European, especially Latin American theorists as Walter Mignolo, Edward Said, Homi Bhaba und Chakrabati Spivak. For my bachelor's thesis, I am currently focusing on the interdisciplinary topic of artistic research in relation to the understanding of art in new materialisms like in Karen Barads agential realism. During my six-month internship at the film production company FlorianFilm GmbH and during my one-year work in the Global Heritage Lab at the University of Bonn, I have already gained experience in working in a research team. As a personal highlight, I enjoyed working in the research of the geographical areas of Africa, New Guinea, Asia and Latin America and the the underlying non-European art history and the associated understanding of art itself, thus shedding light on the missionary background.
