• Managing execution phase engineering to deliver Eastern Green Link 4 Interconnector (2GW Rigid Bipole) between UK and Scotland, with an order value exceeding €1.3B+ under an EPC contract model.
• Managing full lifecycle engineering for the project with engineering team comprising direct reportees of 9 Sub project managers/discipline leads and another 30+ engineers as indirect reportees delivering engineering design packages within agreed time, cost, scope, and quality frameworks, including system design, equipment engineering, primary & structural works, secondary systems, electrical systems, building services and integration activities.
• Overseeing and integrating technical outputs from multiple suppliers, and global engineering centers (SEIL, India and SEL UK), ensuring engineering deliverables meet technical specifications, contractual obligations, and UK grid compliance standards.
• Ensuring strict compliance with CDM regulations by implementing Safety in Design (SiD) and facilitating SiD workshops with multidisciplinary teams to address construction, operational, and maintenance safety risks during the engineering phase.
• Additionally, managed the detailed design phase of Central West Orana (Australia) FACTS Project, comprising 7 high-capacity Synchronous Condensers, with an order value exceeding €400M+ under an EPC contract model.

• Managed HVDC projects from inception through tendering, technical evaluation, and engineering delivery, ensuring timely completion for both converter and associated AC stations.
• Led the full engineering lifecycle of 6GW LCC and 2GW+ VSC-based HVDC projects, from initial conceptualization and preparation of technical specifications and tender documents, through bid evaluation to execution stage engineering.
• Reviewed and verified project documentation from and manufacturing drawings from OEMs, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and international standards.
• Oversaw test plans, witnessed type and routine tests to ensure HVDC equipment met required standards and specifications.
• Defined and verified test cases during Factory System Testing (FST), covering advanced VSC HVDC features such as PQ capability, restart sequences, STATCOM operation, islanding, and black-start.
• Provided technical expertise for operational HVDC assets, supporting troubleshooting and optimization.
• Conducted frequent site visits to verify installations and resolve execution challenges.
• Facilitated smooth collaboration between HVDC converter, Cable, and OHL suppliers.

• Major Projects: Kudus–Aarey VSC HVDC Link: ±320 kV, 1000 MW Cable+OHL based interconnection.
• Achievements – Engineered converter station layouts, including the design of a compact 1x1000MW VSC Converter station within a constrained plot area inside an existing substation.
• Concept to Completion of HVDC Project Engineering - Completed end to end Engineering from feasibility studies of HVDC Converter stations and associated AC Stations.
• Bhadla–Fatehpur HVDC Interconnection: LCC ±800 kV, 6 GW link (tender engineering). Achievement – Won the project in Tariff based competitive bidding.
• Khavda–Nagpur HVDC Interconnection: LCC ±800 kV, 6 GW link (tender engineering).
• India–Singapore Interconnection: VSC ±525 kV, 2 GW link (tender engineering).
• Khavda -South Olpad VSC ±500 kV, 2.5 GW link (tender engineering). Achievement – Won the project in Tariff based competitive bidding.

• Managing HVDC Projects including Initiation, Planning, Monitoring & Control covering engineering, quality, supply chain, Construction, commissioning including system tests, energization and trial operation in coordination with Grid authorities.
• Part of the most complex, first of its kind ±800 kV, 6000 MW NER/ER – Agra Multi-Terminal HVDC in India handling the construction, commissioning and post warranty project management.
• Managed the Refurbishment of ±500 kV, 1500 MW, Rihand-Dadri HVDC in India including the System Studies, Valve Control System, TCU replacement, Sub Station Automation System and Control and Protection Panels Manufacturing, System Testing.
• Review and ensure submission of techno-commercial proposal to bid for potential HVDC projects.
• Prepare and submit pre-bid technical and commercial queries and represent the company during pre-bid meetings and customer contract negotiations.
• Responsible for resource management, quality, talent development and management, Engineering KPI management.
• Provided technical expert services to liaise with both government and private clients.
• Review and lead the preparation of a risk mitigation plan and quantify the residual risks based on the tender documents.

HVDC Engineering (2011-2017)

• Evaluating HVDC configurations, writing technical specifications and evaluating technical bids for the tender stage projects.
• Reviewing and verifying design documents of the HVDC station equipment viz. Converters, converter transformers, DC yard equipment, control & protection systems and SCADA systems and auxiliaries including Valve cooling system and Climate system.
• Witnessing type tests, routine tests of HVDC equipment and witnessed FST of HVDC control & protection and attended OEMs design & project review meetings.
• Supporting at site during commissioning, system tests and trial operation of system and operational stage.

HVDC Asset Management (2007-2010)

• Led a 20-member HVDC operation and maintenance team to achieve more than 99% availability for continuous years.
• Team Leader for Erection, Testing and Commissioning of major HVDC/HVAC Equipment viz. Transformers, Switch Yard Equipment and Auxiliaries at Dadri and Vizag Stations.
• Carried out testing and commissioning of Valve Hall Equipment, Valve Cooling System during partial upgrades and planned outages at Dadri & Vizag Stations.
• Reduced OPEX by strategic sourcing initiatives and local vendor development for OEM components.
