As the bassist for this Gospel ensemble, I was responsible for learning the repertoire for the church services, which mainly comprised of contemporary Gospel pieces. I consistently attended multiple weekly rehearsals and performed during Christian holidays, as required. Of vital importance was the ability to stay completely focused during the church service in order to capture spontaneous musical moments that were unrehearsed, in order to "follow" the pastor through the different parts of the church service.
