Completed my masters in Communication, media practices and Public relations this January and looking to develop my skills in these areas and build new ones. Dynamic and creative professional with a strong foundation in communication, leadership, and teamwork. I am proficient in storytelling, writing, and social media marketing, with a solid understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud. I share my writing and many interests via my Sub-stack account. As someone with experience in events and instructing outdoor sports I would love to combine these into my creative work. I also have a range of experience working in customer service roles and fast paced environments.
Communication and Leadership skills
As the social secretary in the basketball committee at university I was in charge of their social media and engaging and interacting with the members which helped me develop my communication skills in all aspects. In my final year at university I was the vice chair and health and safety officer of the club, where I also developed my leadership skills. Furthermore, I am fluent in German and have a B1 qualification in French. As a SUP and Windsurf instructor I learnt to engage with people of all ages and give safe, fun and informative courses. When doing this, I also had to use my creativity to give lessons that were engaging and suitable for the weather conditions. Furthermore, as a student ambassador I needed to engage with prospective students, represent the university and give campus tours encouraging them to join the university. As a ski instructor I was in charge of a group of kids and had to ensure safety, enjoyment and general well-being throughout the day. When working for Neilson I had to communicate with a range of guests and staff and make ensure everyone had the best holiday possible.
Teamwork
As a team leader at the English4kids summer camp in Germany I was in charge of a group of kids, as well as having to interact with their parents and other team leaders. I was also part of the basketball committee at university, as Health and Safety officer and Vice Chair, where we made important decisions for the club and worked together as a team. While I was helping out at Illuminate we needed to work together as a team to ensure that the event ran smoothly and all costumers had a good experience. When working at water sport centres working as a team was crucial in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all guests.
Interpersonal skills
Working with team leaders at English4kids meant that I needed to engage well with the team and come to conclusions together. As well as showing empathy and being able to solve conflict when working with children. When giving SUP and Windsurf courses I was patient and remained calm in difficult situations, such as when participants struggled to get back on the SUP board or struggled to do different windsurf moves. Furthermore, I tried to encourage the participants and keep them motivated and engaged when the wind was less than ideal. As a ski instructor it was essential, that I kept the kids motivated throughout the day and supported them through any breakdowns and general health needs. I am flexible, empathetic and capable of connecting with a wide range of individuals which has been enhanced through working in international environments and different countries.
Customer service
While working as a Windsurf instructor I learnt to communicate with staff and guests of all ages not just by instructing but also by liaising with and serving customers in the social area. As a customer experience host I worked with customers on a regular basis ensuring they had a pleasant experience at our venues and support them with any enquiries.
Storytelling and writing
Writing has always been my favourite creative outlet, to share my broad range of interests, thoughts and get an insight into other people’s experiences. As part of Master’s degree, I studied a module on Journalism, for which I decided to create a portfolio based on alternative ways of living. I recently started to share my work on Sub stack as well, which I have used as both a creative outlet and tool to connect with like-minded people.
Graphic design and Adobe creative design
Through my Masters course I learnt the process and application of website design and using Graphic design principles to help promote brands through print and digital media, merchandise and Logo designs with the use of mostly photoshop and adobe illustrator. When volunteering for the red cross I used these to help create posts to promote the important work the organisation does.
