Excavator Operator – Offshore Cable Trenching

I operate a Excavator for De Romein Company to dig precision trenches from the seabed to the shore for subsea cable installations. My primary role is to support the connection of offshore wind farms with onshore substations by accurately excavating and preparing cable routes in coastal and marine environments. I work closely with survey teams and marine engineers to ensure trench depth, alignment, and cable protection meet strict technical and environmental standards. My work directly contributes to building reliable and sustainable offshore energy infrastructure.

Excavator Operator – Offshore Cable Trenching (Starfish System)

I operate a Starfish Excavator (130 Ton Hitachi ZX 890) system to dig precision trenches from the seabed to the shore for subsea cable installations. My primary role is to support the connection of offshore wind farms with onshore substations by accurately excavating and preparing cable routes in coastal and marine environments. I work closely with survey teams and marine engineers to ensure trench depth, alignment, and cable protection meet strict technical and environmental standards. My work directly contributes to building reliable and sustainable offshore energy infrastructure.

As part of the Fehmarn Belt Contractors team, I had the privilege of contributing to one of Europe’s most ambitious projects, focusing on dredging and land reclamation. This experience not only allowed me to apply my existing skills but also to grow as an operator, working alongside talented professionals from across Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

Ground leveling and precision grading: Operating both bulldozers and excavators in challenging wet and heavy terrain.

GPS-guided operations: Leveraging advanced GPS systems for accuracy while also excelling in manual operations without GPS assistance.

Diverse excavator work: Using a variety of machines, including short- and long-reach excavators of different sizes, adapting to the unique demands of the project.

Challenges & Growth:

Working in difficult and sometimes extreme conditions taught me the importance of adaptability, problem-solving, and perseverance. These moments, though demanding, offered the greatest learning opportunities and deepened my expertise in operating heavy equipment.
