5G-RU Projects: n78 and n40 band Analog Front End Design
This project concerns designing and implementing a 5G n78 band (3300 MHz – 3800 MHz) analogue
front-end suitable for Mid-Range Base Stations applications. The RF module provides four TX/RX chains and can process signal bandwidth up to 100 MHz. Below isa list of the module's most important features:
Tx chain Maximum output power (for each antenna) of +35 dBm.
Rx chain noise figure less than 5 dB.
Adjacent Channel Rejection Ration (ACLR) greater than 30 dBc.
Error Vector Modulation (EVM) less than 6%.
The 5G-RU n40 project involves the design and realization of a printed circuit board able to work within the 5G n40 band (2300 MHz – 2400 MHz). Project requirements are the same as described above.
Performed duties:
PCB stack-up and microstrip transmission lines design.
TX chain design.
Analog Front-End electrical schematic creation and organization.
PCB electromagnetic analysis and layout redesign to compensate circuit discontinuities (Step, Curves).
Lab tests and measures aimed at estimating TX and RX chain's performance.
Creation and organization of project technical documentation (document design and test list).
