Master’s Thesis (Ongoing)

Development and Analysis of a Modified Hysteresis InterFoam Solver for Multiphase Flows

  • Master’s thesis work building upon the Bachelor’s thesis of Jonas Rosen, titled “Investigation of the Behavior of Flowing Droplets with Wall Contact in a Flat Channel”.
  • Currently working on modifying the hysteresis-based InterFoam solver within the OpenFOAM framework.
  • Focused on reducing spurious currents commonly observed in VOF-based multiphase flow simulations.
  • Involves understanding and adapting existing numerical formulations related to interface capturing and force balance.
  • Ongoing work includes solver implementation, test case setup, and preliminary numerical investigations.
  • Validation against experimental data is planned as a subsequent stage of the thesis.
