Investigating the Exoplanetary Atmosphere of HAT-P-30b

European Southern Observatory - Garching, Germany

Supervisor: Dr. Henri Boffin, Jiri Zak  (Internship & Master thesis)

  • Investigating the atmospheric composition and properties of HATP30b, a hot Jupiter, utilizing archival data by the FORS2 instrument on the Very Large Telescope.
  • Employed the EsoReflex pipeline to reduce the data and developed Python code to obtain spectral transit light curves with the aim of identifying strong absorbers and Rayleigh scattering within its atmosphere.
  • Using PetitRADTRANS software to construct a comprehensive model of WASP96B and HATP30b's atmosphere.
