Tan Tock Seng (TTSH) is the flagship hospital of the National Healthcare Group and one of the largest multi-disciplinary hospitals in Singapore that operates 2000 beds with Emergency attendance rate of 300-400 patients per day. Also the busiest Trauma sentre in the country.
- Perform focused assessment and sorting patients in accordance to triage acuity level.
- Prescribe oral analgesia ordering of ECG and X-rays from point of triage in accordance to hospital policy.
- Comfortable to work in multi-cultural environment and serve as patients' advocate.
- Demonstrate competence in orthopedic procedures such as assisting ER physicians in conscious moderate sedation for Manipulation & Reduction, Biers block, application of splints, traction and back slab to injured limbs.
- Competent in assisting ER physician with ACLS protocols for critically ill patients that require synchronized cardioversion, transcutaneous pacing and preparation of emergency drugs.
- Participates actively in resuscitation of critically ill patients such as major traumas that require spinal management, cardiac arrest, stroke and myocardial infarct.
- Confident to assist ER physicians with intubations including difficult airways management and provide post intubation nursing care.
- Demonstrate competence in advance nursing skills which involves intra-arterial line, central line, central venous puncture, ECG interpretation, chest tube insertion and setting up on non-invasive ventilation.
- Respond and participate in mass casualty exercise; Civil emergency, HAZMAT and Emerging Infectious Disease outbreak held by the department.
Leadership skills:
- Nursing team lead during resuscitation - delegation and coordination of the team whilst maximizing resuscitative effort.
- Appointed as Nurse in Charge - Assisting Nursing Officers coordinating staff allocation, patient disposition and provide assistance to the nursing team.
- De-escalation conflict from patient or their families.
- Seconded to National Centre for Infectious Disease (NCID) Screening Centre during the initial phase of Covid 19 pandemic as a Resus Nurse Lead to guide nursing colleagues from various departments.
- Assumed the role of preceptor to junior registered nurses in developing their clinical skills and confidence.
