Brief :Marks and Spencer plc (also known as M&S; colloquially known as Marks and Sparks) is a British retailer headquartered in the City of Westminster, London, with over 700 stores in the United Kingdom and over 300 stores spread across more than 40 countries. It specializes in the selling of clothing and luxury food products. Quantum Retail provides Solution for Forecasting & Ordering Planning, Allocation & Replenishment for Foods to M&S.

Quantum project is part of the Marks and Spencer's Future Foods Forecasting and Supplier Ordering (FFF&SO) program. The aim of future foods is to upgrade the legacy foods IT applications and to make them more effective. M&S has chosen Quantum Retail Inc, USA's Quantum product for the proposed forecasting and ordering architecture.

The FFF&SO program has worked on 6 phases aiming to increase the number and types of categories and supply chain segments that the Quantum application can support.

The rollout of Quantum based architecture would be initially for three categories in Food Group, in a product ionized environment, providing a resilient operational alternative to NEST. This will provide as minimum a daily output of suggested vendor orders, based upon inputs of store stock and sales. Phase-1&2 of the FFF&SO would be done as 4 drops into production.

M&S applications need to be modified to send the following data to Quantum:

1. Product master data (assume we can redirect an existing interface)

2. Store master data (assume we can redirect an existing interface)

3. Two years of transactional sales and stock data at product store week level for the 26 categories.

4. Three months of transactional sales and stock data at product store day level for the 26 categories

As part of this program, the following Food systems would be amended:

CORD- Current Ordering

SSM - Sales and Stock Maintenance

DMS - Depot Management System

FRD - Food Reference Data

FDW - Food Data Warehouse
